Over the past five years, the current owners developed a close friendship with Knut, often referring guests from Hiwassee Acres to his rides. When Knut decided it was time to embark on a new chapter, he turned to David and Kathi, entrusting them with his beloved horses and the legacy he had built. Though new to the horseback riding business, they eagerly embraced the opportunity, excited to offer this unique experience and enhance the tranquility of their property.
The Story
Knut Torpe founded Ocoee Horseride after moving to the U.S. from Norway in 2015. Back in his home country, he had spent his entire adult life running a family-owned horseback riding business.

Our Horses
Our horses are secure, surefooted, kind and of course familiar with the trails. We currently have 18 horses of various breeds. One of these horses will become your friend and carry you safely across the hills of Tennessee.
Directions to Hiwassee Acres / Ocoee Horseride
From I-75, take Exit 36 toward Calhoun.
At the first stop sign, turn right onto Hwy 11.
Continue to the first traffic light and turn left onto Hwy 163.
Take the first right onto Main Street, which will turn into County Road 950.
Follow County Road 950 all the way to the end — you’ll see signs for Hiwassee Acres along the way.
We’re located at the very end of the road — just follow the signs and you’ll find us!
